Carey was 5'10 in height when she became a high-end model. The popularity of her was with American fashion designers Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren was extremely high. She is the daughter of an outstanding geologist who was in 1979 named Scientist of the Year from the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Her father was a geologist who traveled across the globe as part of his profession. Following her graduation from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, she started to do modeling as a side. This caught the eye of an agent from Ford Model Agency New York. She briefly lived and studied in Paris prior to returning back to New York. Her modeling and academic career rocketed and she appeared on the covers of Glamour's and Vogue's and a variety of other magazines' covers. She studied full-time in New York University, obtaining the degree in Literature, which she earned while working on modeling assignments. After graduation, in New York she began to learn about acting. She began her acting career through a tiny character in 'Club Pardise' in 1986 with Robin Williams. Skiing, white water rafting as well as rock climbing are some of her preferred things to do.
